STATEMENT:

One of my most lasting impressions is of a visit to Pripiat, a city of 50,000 inhabitants that was evacuated after being contaminated by radiation in 1986. We must do everything in our power to prevent disasters like Chernobyl from ever happening again, and to continue providing the victims with appropriate support.

Toni Frisch, Delegate for Humanitarian Aid and head of the SHA (Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit)
